Dr. Ivette and Justin Clark, the pharmacists, reached out to Sartoretto Verna regarding the renovation of their 1,500 sq ft pharmacy, which includes a 700 sq ft front-end area. Their core business operates as a two-room hazard compounding non-sterile pharmacy, and they were seeking to differentiate their pharmacy offering.
Their goal was to enhance visibility and create a distinct break from past practices by focusing on pharmacy categories with strong profit margins, such as vitamins and CBD products.
The pharmacy is located in Gilbert, a rapidly growing neighborhood within the Phoenix metropolitan area, home to approximately 300,000 residents. The clients envisioned a design that is modern, inviting, elegant, and upscale to better serve their patients.
The project was presented a few weeks later during a meeting with the clients, organized in conjunction with the NCPA trade-show held in Kansas City, where Sartoretto Verna showcased a booth.
The design of the compounding (non-sterile) and dispensing areas was executed in compliance with City Council regulations and the operational needs of the pharmacy. The primary focus was on redesigning the prescription and front-end areas, leveraging Sartoretto Verna’s renowned expertise in pharmacy design.
The prescription and back-counter areas feature two-operator counter desks (model Oliver) and ample wall-mounted ABS shelves (model RAL7), complemented by a wooden post pergola for an inviting aesthetic. A small office was strategically arranged adjacent to the over-the-counter (OTC) operation area.
In the retail section, which showcases the requested pharmacy merchandise categories, the layout was designed to effectively organize the categories and products the pharmacists aimed to promote. The left side of this area includes an impulse-purchase curved wall that flanks the storage and office spaces. The overall design is both inviting and consumer-friendly, with traditional cabinet wall-stand units (model RAL6) adding to the comfort of the space. On the right, a straight wall facilitates free-service purchases and features an unobtrusive visual top (model RAL8), promoting a more streamlined experience in the OTC area. The two distinct purchase wall stands are further distinguished by a central stabilized green element.
The communication study and graphic proposal were enhanced with a new logo centered around a cactus-shaped landmark, accompanied by a suspended ceiling with backlit decorations that reflect a natural blue sky, creating an engaging and cohesive atmosphere throughout the pharmacy.
