“Ever since I began in 1980, I have always believed that pharmacies have to be innovative and dynamic, a place where the professional and business person must be fused into one figure without either one prevailing. I think my perception as the pharmacy as a service was very important as well as the fact that my father was a doctor, making me very aware of the connection between pharmacies, the National Health Service and family doctors. After my degree, I worked as a salesperson for a large pharmaceutical company and I have put the technical and managerial skills I learned to good use in running my pharmacy.”
The world is changing at an ever faster pace and there is no reason why pharmacies should not change as well.It is not my purpose to explain these global economic process and analyse the underlying causes, but speak out as a consumer and simple citizen that observes change as it happens and keeps well informed.
We have always been contrary to the pharmacies with displays that seem to “scream” at the customer, leading this mass of products to overwhelm the pharmacy’s professional image.
It is true that pharmacists are born rather than made? That pharmacies are only passed on from generation to generation, from father to son? Not according to Paolo Polini and his wife Maria Teresa Faucci who built up their pharmacy from nothing without any of their relatives being pharmacists.
At the start of the 1980′s, Dr Marco Bacchini and Dr Maria Bacchini starting working in the family pharmacy, which has been open by their father Dr Giannantonio Bacchini in 1978. After becoming the owners in 1997, they moved into a larger and completely renovated shop in 2002 as well as taking on more staff.
Dr Giancarlo Calderara opened his pharmacy in 1992 and had is completely renovated and refurbished in the spring of 2005.
This year Sartoretto Verna unveiled its new line of furniture, the ®RAL System4.
The Calderara Pharmacy nestles in the mountains just outside the small town of Domodossola. The building is 2 storeys high and has 4 large shop windows facing out onto a car park. The refurbishment has captured much of the spirit of this mountainous zone, such as the sharp colours, icy air and a preference for concrete actions over empty rhetoric.
We live in a world undergoing profound transformations and the advent of new technologies is radically changing the way we work. Sartoreto Verna Srl’s new offices will open in October 2004, right in the heart of Turin’s historic centre. This is not a new adventure, rather a home coming for Guido & Donatella Sartoretto Verna, owners of the company, who are both originally from Turin. In fact, the first pharmacy that was designed by the company was the pharmacy S. Rosalia of Dr Vassarotto here in Turin.
As often happens, the renovation of a pharmacy leads to the regeneration of the surrounding area. The new Pacchiarotti Pharmacy has become the focal point of the entire neighbourhood, visible from outside thanks to the wide shop windows that capture passer-by’s attention and the new two-colour sign in the shape of a star that is akin to a small lighthouse illuminating the square

Situated in a charming Italian town near Turin, the pharmacy is a 3-storey stone building that has been completely renovated. The pharmacy is located on the ground floor (110 sq. m.) and half of the 1st floor.

The pharmacy of Dr Malcotti and Dr Sugliano is set on one of the main streets in Alba’s historic centre and has been located on this site since 1935. Although the building is modern itself, Roman remains been uncovered in the pharmacy’s basement.
Albissola Marina is a small seaside town near Savona. It has a long beach stretching out in front of the old town which has now become a popular spa resort. The town is also an important centre of the ceramic industry which has been going on here since 1554.
